From the Selangor Cyber Games (SCG) to the Predator League , Malaysia’s vibrant esports community continues to be a little-known recluse for top-tier competitive video gaming. With the Predator League PUBG finals now done and dusted, we take a look at the results.

SCG and Predator League Finals Conclude

Malaysia prefers PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and the country has the world-class teams to prove it. On Sunday, October 28, the Empire City Mall in Selangor hosted two important events with equal significance to the community. The Selangor Cyber Games (SCG) and the Predator League PUBG Grand Finals.

Endorsed by Mineski, Malaysia’s renowned esports powerhouse, people outside the SEA were able to witness stellar plays across multiple titles. SCG has long had an international reaching going all the way back to 2016, when the hosts invited a crop of international talent to comment on the games.

Mineski managed to host a memorable event that offered solid cash prizes and giveaway events, reuniting a selected crop of teams who have proven themselves through continuous performance on the top. Meanwhile, the PUBG event had English coverage, which followed the action up close throughout the two days.

The final 16 teams walking into the PUBG fray this weekend were, and remain, well-established in the competitive scene.

After hours of intense play, it was finally up to team ASBOL to secure victory after 12 rounds and win RM 15,000 ($3,800), plus securing a spot in the February 2019 Predator PUBG competition. We take a look at the competition.

Predator League PUBG Teams Performance

Team ASBOL clinched a well-balanced overall victory in Day 2 securing it the title. The team relied on a methodical approach which landed it the same overall kill score on both days, with 44 total kills in Day 1 and 46 in Day 2.

Even though ASBOL started off with merely 90 points in Round 1, they quickly found their feet throughout the rest of the competition. At the same time, the runners-up from Gold Army Factory dismantled everyone in the round, notching up 520 points.

ASBOL quickly bounced back by taking on their foes head-on with 580 in Round 2 and pushing up the numbers to 600 points in Round 3.

More noteworthy action came from Battle Arena Elites who managed to secure 53 overall kills in Day 1, which is the highest count that any team in the competition managed, and they managed to perform well, adding 29 victims to their name in Day 2.

While Fizrix Gaming did have a rather poor start in Day 1 with 20 frags, the team quickly revved up the overall number, scoring 31 kills in Day 2. Fizrix also took a lot of heat from rivals Lapar Esports and RF.MIF6 who were neck-and-neck with just a few points difference. RF.MIF6 completely stole the spotlight when they shed bodies in Round 5 and scoring 540 points, but lost their pace in the following and conclusive round.

We saw some respectable performance by The Face Gaming, though the team managed to reach the pique of its performance in Round 4, when it went ahead of the runners-up, demonstrating its qualities.

Flash Vision Esports and Junior finished in 8th and 9th places respectively, still managing a good placement, given the time they had to organize. While they didn’t claim any significant amount of points in any one round, it’s worth saying that their well-balanced performance in terms of conquering in-game objectives and killing enemies paid off.

O.N.E. Esports performed exceptionally in Round 4, securing a match victory but did lose a lot of their momentum in the following rounds. They were trailed by Whackgaoshroud, another known name in Malaysia, with just 45 points behind in the overall standing.

Whackgaoshroud did amass 470 points in Round 6, outpacing the bulk of competitors. Awful Squad performed similarly to the Flash house, but they did need a little more to push their overall game for the better.

Quacker-JR was one of the big reasons why the winners couldn’t secure more points in Round 1, but they faltered further down the road. However, the opening salvo that came from them was quite evident about the qualities.

Lastly, we had Skateh, Lapar.Genesis and MBT Blitzkrieg who finished 14 through 16 within 100 points difference of each other.
